IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 2024: Prague and Ostrava to Host the Tournament
Dates and Locations
The 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will take place from May 10th to 26th, 2024. The tournament will be held in two Czech cities: Prague and Ostrava.
Prague
Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is home to the O2 Arena, the largest indoor arena in the country, which will host the semifinals and final of the tournament.
Ostrava
Ostrava is the third-largest city in the Czech Republic. It is home to the Ostravar Arena, which will host the remaining games of the tournament.
Participating Teams
A total of 16 teams will participate in the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. The top 15 teams from the 2023 tournament will be automatically qualified, while the 16th team will be determined through a qualification tournament.
Format
The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with each team playing each other once. The top four teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinals, semifinals, and final will be played in a single-elimination format.
Tickets
Tickets for the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will go on sale in the spring of 2024. Tickets can be purchased online or through the official ticket vendors of the tournament.
