Julian Nagelsmann: New Head Coach of Germany
Early Life and Career
Julian Nagelsmann was born on July 23, 1987, in Landsberg am Lech, Germany. He was raised by his mother and spent his early years playing football. At the age of 20, Nagelsmann suffered a career-ending knee injury that forced him to retire from playing.
After his playing career was cut short, Nagelsmann turned to coaching. He began his coaching journey with the youth teams of Augsburg, and quickly rose through the ranks. In 2016, he was appointed as the head coach of Hoffenheim, where he led the team to the UEFA Champions League play-offs in his first season.
Bayern Munich
In 2019, Nagelsmann was appointed as the head coach of Bayern Munich, one of the most successful clubs in the world. Under his leadership, Bayern won the Bundesliga title in 2020 and 2021, as well as the UEFA Champions League in 2020. Nagelsmann also led Bayern to victory in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2020.
Germany National Team
In 2021, Nagelsmann was appointed as the head coach of the Germany national team, replacing Hansi Flick. He will lead the team in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where Germany will be looking to reclaim the title they last won in 2014.
